Beirut. The name still rings with an agonizing echo.
The city that survived a rough history dating back to more than 5000 years. Occupied by an empire after another. Destructed by a long civil war followed by conflicts and instability.
But the Beirut spirit never diminished. No matter the commotion, it’s motto of enjoying the moment and living like there’s no tomorrow was and still is sought after like never before.
Beirut, now reconstructed and rejuvenated, and though still lingers with unresolved tensions, thrives back to reclaim its once title as “Paris of the Middle East.”
In the video someone referred to Beirut as Switzerland. I think he meant to say Lebanon. Before the unrest, Lebanon was known as “Switzerland of the East.”
Referred to as “Best Party City” by CNN in 2009 (see video): After years of political instability, Beirut comes out of its shell as a party city. Now, 2 years later, the party is still going and the Lebanese people are still living like there’s no tomorrow.
This CNN clip focuses on Beirut rooftop bars/nightclubs. Lebanon enjoys dry summers so rooftop bars are where the Lebanese love to flock.
